A new job means a new work environment, new coworkers, and getting to know a new organization and culture. Especially in the beginning, there’s a lot to take in. That’s why we at Flexspecialisten believe it’s important that new coworkers are not only properly trained but also feel truly welcome.

Our ambassadors play a key role in this. They help new colleagues get started, serve as an approachable point of contact, and help uphold our corporate culture. They also act as a bridge between the staff and the CEO. The ambassadors gather ideas and areas of concern from across the organization and discuss them periodically.

Why Ambassadors at Flexspecialisten?

The ambassador program was created during a period when Flexspecialisten was growing rapidly and welcoming more and more new colleagues. That growth raised an important question: How can we ensure that new employees quickly feel at home while at the same time preserving what Flexspecialisten Flexspecialisten
? With that in mind, the ambassador team was formed.

The ambassadors are colleagues from various parts of the organization who take on an additional role alongside their regular duties. They know the organization, understand how we work together, and can help new colleagues find their way. At the same time, they stay in touch with what’s happening within the organization and represent the staff.

Our Ambassadors

Currently, our ambassador team consists of five colleagues, each with their own role and perspective on the organization: Robin Hendriks from Marketing, Femke Gijsbers from HR, Dorus Jacobs from Account Management, Henri Mels from Account Management/Recruitment Netherlands, and Birgit Toonen as a Business Development Specialist.

Because they come from different departments, they each bring different experiences and insights to the table. This ensures that the ambassador team is broadly represented within Flexspecialisten and maintains connections with various parts of the organization.

A personal buddy for the first few months

An important part of the ambassador program is the buddy system. Every new colleague is assigned an ambassador as a buddy during their first three months.

This buddy is separate from the direct supervisor and is there specifically for casual questions and conversations. How are you finding your first few months? What challenges are you facing? Are there things that are still unclear? And are you starting to feel at home yet?

During the first few months, there are regular buddy check-ins. These don’t have to be long or formal conversations. Sometimes the value lies simply in being able to bounce ideas off someone who knows the organization well. This way, we not only provide new colleagues with information about their role, but we also help them get to know the organization and our way of working.

More Than Just Onboarding

The role of an ambassador goes beyond simply mentoring new employees. Our ambassadors also take a broader view of the organization. They contribute ideas about the company culture, pick up on feedback from colleagues, and discuss topics that can help create a pleasant work environment. In addition, they are involved in activities that bring colleagues together and contribute to job satisfaction.

In this way, the ambassadors serve as a vital link within the organization. They are not HR staff or managers, but they are able to listen, provide guidance, and ensure that concerns reach the right people. It is precisely this accessibility that makes the ambassador role so valuable.

Work from HERE

Our ambassadors also help new colleagues get familiar with the way we work at Flexspecialisten . Our HIER work standard serves as an important guiding principle in this regard. HIER stands for Clarity, Intelligence, Simplicity, and Results-Oriented. It helps us make decisions, work together, and maintain clarity about what we can expect from one another.

Ambassadors help new colleagues get to know this way of working right from the start and, above all, experience it firsthand.

Attention That Lasts

The buddy program officially lasts three months, but the connection formed during that time often lasts much longer. That may well be the program’s greatest strength. An ambassador isn’t just there to explain where to find things or who to go to. It’s mainly about providing personal attention at a time when it’s especially important.

By consciously making time for new colleagues, picking up on signals, and staying attuned to our culture, our ambassadors ensure that growth doesn’t come at the expense of engagement. After all, we don’t build a stable organization solely through processes and agreements. We do so primarily through people who feel like they’re part of the whole.

That's what our ambassadors are committed to every day.
